Resources

The goal of this website is to root out and recommend reading material which illuminates the true, good, and beautiful. As small as this little corner of mine is, I cannot nor do I want to try to provide all the information and reading you could possibly want. This page serves as a database for outside resources which have inspired or helped me in my journey as a Christian reader, and which I believe would be helpful to others.

Some of these are websites, some books, and one is even a bookstore. I have included a brief description with each one. Feel free to pick and choose which resources catch your interest. This is a feast with many plates to choose from. Enjoy the literary meal.

Enclave Publishing

A Christian publishing house which specializes in adult and young adult speculative fiction–meaning science fiction and fantasy. I love almost every book I’ve bought or read from this company. It’s all by Christian authors, though I cannot guarantee the content of each and every book. I have a handful of reviews on my website for various Enclave books, including Ignite and The Fireborn Epic.

Goodreads

A classic readers’ website. I wouldn’t even bother listing it except it took me so long to jin Goodreads because I didn’t see the point of it. While most of the reviews aren’t Christian-based Goodreads still provides a general overview of how good a book is based on its overall rating. You can also add all the books you have read, are currently reading, or never finished to separate lists. As someone who cannot even keep up with all the books I read, I find the lists quite handy. You can also rate and review books, and it provides recommendations based on your past reads and preferred genres–including as Christian fiction.

Half Price Books

Many, many books to choose from, mostly secondhand with a scattered selection of new books. All the secondhand options are about half the retail price, or less. This is my favorite secondhand bookstore, though it’s not faith-based.

Honey for a Child’s Heart

This lovely faith-based book not only illuminates the importance of reading with and to children, but also provides lengthy lists of recommended stories.

Karyne Norton’s newsletter

A Christian author whose newsletter provides fantasy and sci-fi book reviews and recommendations, deals and free ebooks, special offers, and other fun resources. The sign-up for her newsletter is at the bottom of the page in the link.

Read-Aloud Revival

A Christian website which emphasizes using reading to bond as a family. I haven’t used this one as much, but it contains booklists, podcasts, and articles. Though targeted towards parents, I still found it fascinating as a teen reader.

Redeemed Reader

Another Christian website stuffed full of book reviews and lists. In the past, I used it frequently to find clean books. Since then I’ve found my own ways of ferreting out books to my specific taste, but this website has a wide variety of reading options.

The Redeemed Reader: Cultivating a Child’s Discernment and Imagination Through Truth and Story

A book on the importance of providing to children books which display God’s truth to not only entertain, but to grow as a person. It also contains a few handy booklists.
